RHYTHM AND US
The word rhythm in Greek means to flow. Drumming is a path of healing that guides us into experiencing the flow of our mind and emotions so we may grow to experience more about our soul.
Drumming gives us an experience where we can be free to connect with ourselves and others, in Order to release, restore and heal. It is a universal language where all people can be a part, free from words and concepts so we can experience life with an open heart.
Drumming supports individuals, families and communities during times of joy, sadness and change. As we drum together the rhythm can bring us closer to one another with respect and courage as we move towards healing wounds and restoring hope.
DRUM CIRCLE - THE CONCEPT
For thousands of years, group drumming has been a part of almost every global culture- they were used at harvest rituals, solstice gatherings, fertility and manhood rituals, marriage ceremonies, and all manner of celebration. One of the first things that happened in Kenya when Obama was elected was a drum circle! (However, in Africa they don't use the term drum circle).
A Drum-Circle is a group drumming activity headed by a drum circle facilitator. One does not reqire any prior drumming/music knowledge to be a part of a drum - circle.
It is a creative and rewarding 'social experience' - a chance to bond with others. It is fun and an amazing stress-buster. One does not need any drumming experience to be a part of it.
